Trigger Point Therapy

What Is Trigger Point Pain?

Trigger Point Therapy (TPT) can break the cycle of chronic pain without pain killers.

Trigger point (also known as myofascial) pain, is the result of small knots within muscles which spasm, causing pain, which often continues because the nerve continues to "fire" or send pain signals to the brain. Without treatment, the pain can persist and become chronic, which can lead to additional physical problems as the patient changes the way he or she walks, sits, sleeps, or moves.

Trigger points often cause referred pain, which is ongoing pain in a location apart from that of the problem, leading to misdiagnosis and ineffective treatment.

Trigger point pain has been known to worsen to the point that the patient loses sleep, and develops anxiety or depression, which magnifies or compounds the original problem, until quality of life is severely affected.

Accidents, incorrect posture, repetitive motion, inflammation, injury, and stress can all be contributing factors to trigger point pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy targets the myofascial knot, allowing it to release. Very often the relief felt by the patient is instantaneous, as blood flows to the affected area, bringing long-term healing.

Trigger point therapy is non-invasive, virtually painless and provides quick, long lasting relief, often immediately or with a minimum of visits.
